Other considerations:

Cassia comes from a rough past. She is between 2-3 years old and spent the first part of her life in a bad situation, then once rescued, she spent over 400 days in the shelter. She has been with me in a home environment with my dog for 3 months now and she is thriving. But Cassia is a very special girl and will require a special owner who is calm and understands her history and will have the time and patience to earn her trust. Once she trusts you, she is so loving and eager to please. She will make a wonderful companion and best friend for the right person/family. You just canโ€™t expect too much from her too quickly. She comes around. She just needs space and time, but she is getting braver and more confident all the time and is learning to be more trusting every day.

๐Ÿพ Sheโ€™s full of beans and zoomies and is high energy when sheโ€™s truly in her comfort zone. Sheโ€™ll need an active home where she gets lots of exercise.

๐Ÿพ She is great with other dogs but she loves attention, so would need a dog companion that doesnโ€™t get jealous. My dog has been a great leader for her showing her the ropes of how to be a dog and she would benefit greatly from another dog in the home, especially one that is confident and calm.

๐Ÿพ Sheโ€™s still learning how to play. Just recently she started to chase toys when I throw them for my dog and sheโ€™s still figuring out the retrieval part.

๐Ÿพ She does have chewing tendencies if anxious or aroused. This has been reduced substantially as she has learned to relax but best to crate her when you leave the house and make sure she has outlets to burn energy.

๐Ÿพ She needs predictability and routine. Because of this I wouldnโ€™t recommend a home with children. She seems to not mind kids, but sheโ€™s had limited exposure and still requires slow and controlled introductions to new people, especially at home in her safe space when new people visit.

๐Ÿพ Sheโ€™s had a small amount of exposure to cats at the shelter and I believe this went well.

๐Ÿพ She is more trusting of women, but has shown she can be trusting and friendly with men as well.

๐Ÿพ Cassia and her adopter would benefit from training. Not only to help with Cassiaโ€™s confidence, but also to help build that trusting bond so she knows that sheโ€™s safe and she doesnโ€™t have to be afraid.

If you think youโ€™re the right person or family to adopt Cassia and continue working with her to build her confidence and give her the the wonderful life she deserves, please fill out an application at petsavesudbury.com or call the shelter for additional information at (705) 692-3319.
