Paisley 1 month update from her foster home🐾
“On January 4, I came to my foster mom’s house and I’ve been there for a whole month now! I’m much calmer, I don’t get into small fights with the older dogs because I steal their food or treats, I know LOTS of commands and I LOVE my long walks. I get LOTS of treats. I’m not friends with the cat yet and when he sneaks upstairs I scare him by chasing him, but we’re working on that.
I do still steal a glove or a sock or a slipper because hey they look like my stuffies that I’ve destroyed! I still find food that’s too close to the edge of the counter because I’ve grown and can reach farther, but so do my foster brother Max who is 10 and my foster sister Holly who is 13. So there!
I’m not quite there on the leash business and that heel command I don’t understand because my foster mom tells me that I need to run out my energy so we use the retractable leash so I can run 3 times as much as my foster siblings – I love to run up and down the snowbanks! I get to go free in the backyard too and go on longer walks with the longer lead sometimes. My foster mom says walking nice and without pulling is going to start soon.
My foster mom has to use the dreaded water sprayer when I play attack her and scratch her by mistake because I’m so used to playing rough, but I’m learning to play nice. I don’t jump on her anymore when she comes into the house because she hugs me and says good dog when I just run up to great her now.
We play chase the ball inside the house and my foster mom says we’ll start playing outside too now that it’s getting warmer. Although I do love sticks and am finding lots in the back yard although my foster mom doesn’t like it when I steal them from her garden space and bushes hahaha. We’ll keep working on that!
I can also stay home with my foster siblings for a few hours at a time now! Although my friend Jakob who lives downstairs is often around to let us out and give us treats when my foster mom is out.
I’m really good in the car and sit nice-nice in the back seat now. I love to go for rides, especially if it’s to go to the pole line for a really long walk, or to that pet store that has, you guessed it, TREATS.”
